Phy Ed / Health Teacher Email Phone: 262-367-3606 x118 Hello! My name is Jason Blawat and I have a Physical Education and Health Education teacher here at Lake Country School. I also serve as the school's Athletic Director. The 2020-2021 school year is my 17th year at LCS.
I graduated from UW Whitewater in 2003 with a BSE in K-12 Physical and Health Education. I completed my graduate work in 2008 through National Louis University and hold a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
My educational philosophy is one of an emphasis of the "process" as well as the "product." I focus primarily on the things that my students can control - their attitude, effort, and behavior. Of course I give grades, but encourage my students and parents to pay less attention to the grade itself and more to what the grade represents. I believe in a focus on "Character Education" with an emphasis on the 5 Core Values - Work Ethic, Respect, Honesty, Open mindedness to diverstiy, and Communication. A good educator isn't always smarter than their students, but a good educator can also help their students continue to learn. I push my students to be reflective and to be leaders. To set goals and work to achieve them and to take responsibility for their actions. To not make excuses, but make adjustments. To be the very best versions of themselves that they can be.
I live in New Berlin with my wife and three children. Our twin boys Ayden and Troy are 15 years old and currently in the 10th grade at New Berlin West Middle/High School. They are "sports nuts," and enjoy playing baseball, football, fishing, and weight lifting among others. My daughter Mallory is 12 years old and is currently a 7th grader at New Berlin West. She loves dancing and cheerleading and hanging out with her friends. When I'm not at Lake Country I do a lot of coaching in the New Berlin area. I have coached for the New Berlin Heat Baseball organization and the New Berlin West Youth Basketball program. I also served as the President of the New Berlin West Youth Football Club for 5 years, where I continue to coach today. My wife and I also served as the Youth Counselors at our church.
